Wardel Reservoir is located in the Snowy Range Mountains of Wyoming, about 30 miles west of Laramie. The reservoir was constructed in 1909 to provide water for irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. It has a maximum capacity of 13,000 acre-feet and a surface area of approximately 910 acres. Wardel Reservoir is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and camping, and it is stocked annually with rainbow and cutthroat trout by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. The surrounding area features numerous hiking trails and scenic viewpoints of the Snowy Range Mountains
